The voice threads and digital story telling are going to be interesting. The voice threads are cool because they can be used for so many different ways in the classroom. One of the thoughts that popped in my mind about voice threads, is the ability to give directions on them. If I have a project that I have done for years with my students, I can make a voice thread for it. This way the students can see and hear the directions on the Smartboard. They can see what the outcome is going to be as well. I like the idea of allowing them to hit a button on the board to hear the directions again. I wont have to repeat myself a thousand times.......maybe. haha
I think there are so many options with voice threads and I'm excited to get started. Although, don't like the sound of my voice when I hear it on a recording!!!! I don't know if I'm going to like that part.

Christy,
ReplyDeleteLOL, when I read "I won't have to repeat myself a thousand times". That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Student: "Mr. Martin, you never said that!". One year, I taught 3 sections of Algebra right in a row. I kept saying to the 3rd class, "Didn't I already tell you that?" I am playing around with the idea of having a TA record me, so that the next class can get the exact same lesson and I can see what I forgot to tell them in my old age.
I agree with you, Christy, that Voice Thread is going to be an amazing tool - not just for the teacher, but for the student as well. What a way to run a project - create a voice thread with the instructions and the students can work at their own pace. I agree with the sound of your own voice - I sound like a chipmunk!! Wish we could change our voices!
ReplyDeleteI soooo agree about using my own voice! I would never make it as a radio announcer! I loved how easy it was to import images into Voicethread...I can definitely find alot of ways to use this with my students. But, they may have the same fear as me when using their own voice. Funny how students can't stop talking in the classroom until you put a microphone in front of them!
ReplyDeleteI, too, immediatley laughed when I read, " I like the idea of allowing them to hit a button on the board to hear the directions again. I wont have to repeat myself a thousand times.......maybe."
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to also use this application for directions. It seems to fit perfectly! I was also thinking of using it for student critiques. I don't know if this would work for you but I am thinking if I post student projects on a voicethread I could have the students log on and comment on each others. I would have an entire class give feedback and it would be available anytime!
