First night of class

I hope to gain more knowledge on technology and apply it in my classroom. It's hard when kids know more about technology than I do. I would like to learn new and exciting ways to engage my students. I worried I will not be able to keep up with the pace of the class.

I'm new to this technology and communication, but I am interested in how it works and want to learn how to use it properly.

I'm excited to use the google docs page--Although I'm not sure how to tie it into my classroom yet.

So far I have learned how to create and publish a blog site. I really like the Ning and I am excited to use it with my fellow classmates throughout this course. They only thing I'm worried about is not knowing where to navigate at times.

  2. It looks like you have a good start! Well done. Students may know more about turning on a computer or a program, but you know the curriculum. Tying the two together will enrich everyone. Ask anyone for help, it's how we learn and grow.

  3. I can totally relate, Christy! One of my biggest fears is also not knowing where to navigate at times. I'm sure we will both get better, but maybe we can rely on each other in the mean time! For example, I was logged into the Ning the other night and thought I was ready for class to start, and then realized I didn't remember how to get into Elluminate! Isn't it exciting, though, to think about taking every new thing we learn in class each week back to our students and try it with them? I can't wait!

  4. I understand getting lost when trying to navigate programs, websites and other things, I must say it's the best way to learn a program.
I have learned more by being frustrated an spending 30minutes trying to find the feature that was right there in front of me. I have done that more times than I remember.

Don't be afraid to jump right in and try stuff. You can't break the internet or the web-based tools. So kick back, relax and enjoy the ride!
Oh... also, if you find something cool, be sure to share it. ^_^

  5. Hi Cristy - Like the others, I too have problems navigating around all the new websites. I think I finally have a good grasp on it. It helped when I finally figured out that I should bookmark Wolfmail, Ning, my blog and Google Docs. I kept going through my Wolfmail account to get to these links! Ugh! What can I say...I'm a slow learner!
